Description
First introduced in 1953, the Rolex Submariner was the first divers’ wristwatch waterproof to 100 metres and quickly became the benchmark for every dive watch that followed. The Reference 116610LV, launched in 2010, gave the green Submariner a bold new look: where its predecessor, the “Kermit” 16610LV, paired a green aluminium bezel with a black dial, the 116610LV combined a green Cerachrom ceramic bezel with a matching green sunburst dial, earning it the nickname “Hulk.” Its 40mm Oystersteel case is water resistant to 300 metres and powered by Rolex’s self-winding Calibre 3135, with a date window magnified by the Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock. Chromalight luminescent hour markers glow blue in the dark, and the Oyster bracelet is fitted with the Oysterlock safety clasp and Glidelock extension system for adjusting the fit without tools. Discontinued in 2020 and replaced by the black-dial 126610LV, the Hulk is now one of the most sought-after modern Submariners.
