Born from Tudor’s revived partnership with the French Navy’s elite Commando Hubert combat swimmers, the Pelagos FXD is a purpose-built navigation instrument. FXD stands for its fixed strap bars, which are machined directly into the case so the watch stays secure on the wrist in the most demanding conditions. The 42mm case is fully brushed titanium, light and understated, framed by a navy-blue ceramic bezel with a deep-notched edge and a luminous triangle at 12. Look closely and you’ll notice the bezel is graduated counter-clockwise, a detail created for underwater navigation that counts down the time on each leg of a route. The matte blue dial is clean and highly legible, with oversized luminous indices, Tudor’s signature snowflake hour hand and a blue-tipped seconds hand. Inside beats the in-house Manufacture Calibre MT5602, a COSC-certified chronometer with a 70-hour power reserve. Water resistant to 200 metres and fitted with a textured blue fabric strap and titanium buckle, this /21 example carries the case back engraving for 2021, the debut year of the collaboration with the Marine Nationale, making it the most sought-after production year for collectors.
